Kids just love our Monster Side Salads! They’re a fun and easy way of squeezing an extra portion of veggies into kids daily diets.
Monster side salads are super quick to make, really easy and you can get the kids to help our making them too, which means they’re even more likely to get eaten. And salad shaped like a monster is always much easier to get kids to eat than salad in a bowl…. tiresome but TRUE!
For young kids a portion of vegetables tends to equal what they could fit in their hand so our monster side salads are a perfect little portion size. It’s also a great way of getting kids to try out new foods and flavours as they really won’t be over-faced.
I’ve got into a habit now of serving a monster face alongside pretty much all the kids dinners. Little parenting tip here…. mean monsters are more appealing to eat than happy ones…
Quick and easy way to get kids to eat 1 of their 5 a day.
- Baby plum tomatoes
- Cucumber slices
- Black olives
- Red pepper strips
- Just cut up the salad vegetables and make into mean monster faces!
Make monster side salad your way
- Try using any combination of veggies you like – radishes, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, raw broccoli florets, mange tout, carrots (especially purple carrots, kids seem to love those more)
