Air Fryer Peri Peri Chicken Strips

A quick and healthy air fryer recipe for peri peri chicken strips. Simple to put together and quick to cook. Just add your favourite fried chicken side dishes!

Our super easy air fryer chicken strips recipe is not only really tasty and easy to make, but healthy too!

We don't add a breaded coating, we just use a tasty tomato and herb marinade to add loads of flavour with a lot less faff!

Our air fryer chicken strips are great served with a side of spicy rice, air fryer corn on the cob or our totally delicious jacket potato in the air fryer or air fryer potato wedges. Super crispy skin and a soft fluffy middle, totally delicious piled high with ranch coleslaw alongside some peri peri chicken strips.

Equipment Needed To Make Air Fryer Chicken Strips

  • Meat chopping board
  • Sharp knife
  • Bowl
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Lemon juicer
  • Tongs – I recommend getting yourself some silicone tongs for air frying, just helps to avoid burning yourself when turning over the chicken strips and because their silicone they don't scratch the non-stick coating in the air fryer.
  • Air fryer – we use a Tefal air fryer (Little update! - We've swapped to a Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone Air Fryer - the 9.5 litre two drawer cooking space is BRILLIANT when you're cooking for a family. And it makes cooking meat, chicken or fish and potatoes at the same time super easy!
  • Food thermometer – I totally recommend getting yourself a food thermometer, especially for air frying, it really gives me peace of mind when cooking. I like to know that food is cooked to the right temperature.
  • Serving bowl

Peri Peri Chicken Strips Ingredients

You'll just need five ingredients to make our delicious peri peri chicken recipe!

  • chicken breast (usually around 2 large or 3 small breasts)
  • olive oil
  • tomato puree
  • ½ lemon - juiced
  • peri peri seasoning - you can mix your own Peri Peri seasoning or use shop bought Schwartz peri peri seasoning.

How To Make Peri Peri Chicken Strips In The Air Fryer

You are just going to LOVE how simple this recipe is, seriously little effort! Big flavour!

Step One - slice the chicken into strips

  • Slice the chicken breasts into strips - you are aiming for around 4-5 strips from each breast.

Cooks Note! If you don't have a meat chopping board and knife, use kitchen scissors. Just be sure to give all utensils used to prepare chicken a thorough wash and disinfect them carefully to remove any chicken germs!

Step Two - marinate the chicken strips

  • Add the chicken strips to a bowl then pour in the tablespoon olive oil and lemon juice, dollop in the tomato puree and sprinkle over the peri peri seasoning. You can also add a pinch of salt here too if you're using salt.
  • Then give everything a good mix together to make sure the chicken strips are coated thoroughly in the peri peri chicken marinade.

Step Three - cook the air fryer peri peri chicken strips

  • Add the raw chicken strips to the air fryer basket. Keep them in a single layer, you may need to do two batches depending on what air fryer you're using.

  • Cook on 200C for around 10 - 12 minutes, turning half way through cooking.

Cooks Note - the chicken may take less time or a little longer depending on how thick you cut the strips. It's always best to check the core temperature using a food thermometer to be sure your chicken is cooked through properly. And continue to cook chicken until it's cooked through properly with no pink remaining!
