Trying to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle? We’ve been giving bamboo toothbrushes from The Humble Co a try.
Bamboo toothbrush review
I’ve being trying to cut down my use of plastic in everyday activities lately to try and contribute to reducing plastic pollution in the oceans.
I’ve fulfilled this by making simple switches – things such as using metal or paper straws instead of plastic straws, drinking from a reusable water bottle instead of buying the one-use bottles of water when out on the go. I’ve also be way more conscious when shopping – choosing recycled packaged products and making sure I recycle when I’m done.
Eco Friendly Toothbrush
I was recently sent some bamboo toothbrushes to try out from The Humble Co, these toothbrushes are made from 100% biodegradable sustainably grown bamboo. This means that the handles contain no plastic and don’t contribute to the plastic pollution in the oceans.
In fact the handle, once the bristles are removed can be composted even at home and return to the soil within 6 months! The bristles once removed can be put in with the plastic curb-side recycling or check with your local council about recycling options. Either way it’s a whole lot less plastic going to landfill or ending up in the ocean.
Bamboo toothbrush bristles
I found the bamboo toothbrushes clean just as well as an average plastic toothbrush and they also last just as long! The bristles on these bamboo toothbrushes are made from nylon-6 as it has a lower hardness (which is better for your teeth)
Personally I preferred using a bamboo toothbrush as the bristles are a lot softer and feel nicer on my teeth and gums when I use them, the material of the bristles also means they have a lower water absorption than a regular toothbrush meaning it’s more hygienic and in my opinion doesn’t develop a musty smell like some regular plastic toothbrushes do.
You need to care for your bamboo toothbrush a little differently as you don’t want the bamboo to get overly soggy – I gently dry it on a clean towel after use and then left it to air dry away from moisture.
I loved the that the bamboo toothbrushes have a beautiful simple design and come in 9 different colours so it’s easy for the whole family to switch to eco-friendly bamboo toothbrushes.
Where to buy bamboo toothbrush UK?
You can buy The Humble Co Bamboo Toothbrushes in Boots – priced at just £4.
Bamboo Interdental Brushes
The Humble Co also do a range of interdental brushes with the same great quality compostable bamboo handle. I found these great for getting to the hard to reach places in my mouth, meaning I could clean my teeth really well.
