I really love the beach, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love the beach, but I hate totally wind swept and super knotty hair so here are my tips on how I avoid that and keep my hair feeling gorgeous, without spending a fortune!
Wash hair and leave it wet
Before heading off to the beach I wash my hair and leave it wet – it’ll just dry naturally throughout the day.
Leave in conditioner
I treat my hair with a leave in conditioner – I like the Active Hair Leave In Conditioner from Superdrug – it’s specially made to protect hair from damaging UV rays, salt and chlorine odour. So it’s great for using on holiday.
When I’m heading off to the beach I usually style my hair up so I’ll pile it into a bun or keep it really neat in plaits – this just stops it getting as knotty in the wind.
After swimming or a day at the beach I always rinse my hair really well with fresh water to rinse off the salt, chlorine and any of the leave in conditioner that’s still hanging in there.
Wash & Condition Really Well
Okay – first up – DON’T BRUSH YOUR HAIR – wait until you’ve washed and conditioned it really well, if you try brush out knotty beach hair you’ll break and damage it. Use a wide tooth comb to gently get through the knots once you’ve put the conditioner in your hair – it makes it so much easier and more gentle.
I choose a really nourishing shampoo and conditioner for post-beach hair – the HASK Monoi Coconut Oil Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner from Superdrug. It’s so nice, it’s coconut scent reminds me of beach holidays and it leaves my hair feeling, light, soft and smooth. It really refreshes and nourishes my hair after a day at the beach.
Disclosure – the HASK shampoo and conditioner were sent over free of charge for review – I’ll definitely be buying them in future they’re lovely! For full details of my disclosure policy please read here.
