I’ve been drooling over the Almost Famous twitter stream for months… I’ve lusted after those dripping with cheese, over seasoned, over sauced burgers… Then. Well then the place burnt down. But now it’s back!
Almost Famous has reopened in Manchester. The Great Northern Warehouse, Peter Street. So enough waiting around for the ‘child free’ moment to occur – we took the smallest boy with us. Kids are allowed but there’s no special menu for them.
The new place is great – big, spacious, easy to get in with a pram… (if you’re taking one). And the array of burgers and fries and ice-cream well, you’re just going to want everything! A brilliant place to visit in the North West.
For me… it had to be the Awesome Frickin Chicken – crispy BBQ fried chicken which comes with lettuce, slaw, chipotle marinara sauce and famous sauce… OMG it was amazing. Massively oversized, hugely messy – burger perfection. Think dirty, dirty hands, dirty faced deliciousness. And oh, yes, skin on and sweet potato fries on the side. Yum.
And for the Andy (the husband)… well if it’s not ‘burn ya gob-off’ spicy he’s just not happy – so he had the Chilli Chilli Chilli Cheeseburger – double cheese burger with smoky beef chilli, chillies, jalapeños, Cholula, lettuce and bleu cheese sauce. HOT. Add the fries… loaded fries, with crispy onions, jalapeños, sauce, baconnaise, crispy bacon bits. The perfect combo.
And the small boy… well – an ice-cream as big as his head kept him quiet and happy. Ice-cream face below….
