How to make Caprese Salad
This beautifully simple Italian Caprese Salad takes just moments to make. We use Auricchio P.D.O. Mozzarella di Bufala Campana for our Caprese – the taste is just superb, mild, creamy but with a slight tang. Perfect for Caprese Salad.
Simply slice the Mozzarella using a very sharp knife, and layer onto the plate with fresh basil leaves and sliced vine tomatoes. Season with sea salt flakes and ground black pepper.
I like to drizzle over a pesto dressing but you can just use a good olive oil and maybe a splash of Balsamic vinegar if you prefer.
Beautifully simple Caprese Salad with Pesto Dressing
- 125g Auricchio P.O.D Mozzarella di Bufala Campana - sliced
- 1-2 ripe vine tomatoes - sliced
- handful of fresh basil leaves
- 3 tsp fresh pesto
- Arrange the salad onto a plate - basil, mozzarella then tomato to represent the colours of the Italian flag.
- Drizzle over the pesto dressing.
How long does Caprese Salad last?
You can keep Caprese Salad in the fridge for up to 2 days – the mozzarella and tomatoes will let out some water so you’ll need to drain before serving.
