ingredients for carrot fries on a white table - carrots, olive oil, cornflour, peri peri seasoning and pinch of salt
  • 4 large carrots – scrubbed and cut into batons
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp cornflour
  • 2 tsp peri peri seasoning – we use homemade, but a shop bough peri peri seasoning blend is fine to use in this recipe instead.
  • Pinch salt – optional

How To Make Carrot Fries In The Air Fryer

This is a super easy air fryer recipe!

Step One – season the carrot batons

  • Toss the carrot batons into a bowl, pour over the olive oil and then tip on the peri peri seasoning and cornflour. Add a pinch of salt too, if using.

  • Toss the carrot batons using your hands so that they’re all coated, keep tossing them until the white cornflour colour disappears and they start to all look a dirty orange colour.

Step Two – air fry the carrot fries

  • Tip the seasoned carrot batons into the air fryer basket. Try to keep it to a single layer (you may need to cook in two batches). Don’t worry too much about a little overlapping, as you’ll be shaking the air fryer basket a few times as they cook.

  • Cook the carrot fries on the air fry setting at 160C for 10 minutes. Then turn the air fryer up to 200C and continue to cook for a further 8-10 minutes or until the carrots are crisping up and golden.

Cooks Note – if you’ve cut your carrots chunkier then they’ll probably need a longer cooking time.

Step Three – serve the carrot fries

  • Once the air fryer vegetable fries are cooked to your liking, tip them onto a serving platter or bowl and add your favourite dips on the side.

We like to serve these with a spicy mayonnaise dip, made by just adding a squirt of Nando’s hot sauce to some mayonnaise and stirring.
