How To Make Cheese And Bacon Turnovers
You are going to just LOVE how simple these little cheese and bacon pastry are to make!
Step One – Preheat the oven
- Preheat the oven to 200C / 400F / Gas Mark 6
- Take the puff pastry out of the fridge at least 20 minutes before you want to use it.
- If you’re not using a non-stick baking tray then it’s a good idea to lightly grease the baking tray just using a little olive oil on some kitchen paper.
Step Two – Make up the cheese and bacon turnovers
- Cut the puff pastry sheet into six equal parts.
- Sprinkle grated cheese down the centre – on the diagonal.
- Then lay on the bacon slice and using a pastry brush, just brush a little beaten egg onto the corners of the pastry you’re about to wrap. This just helps it to stick on not unroll during cooking.

- Next, fold the pastry corners over and tuck one just underneath the bacon and cheese turnover so it doesn’t unravel when cooking.
- Brush the tops of the bacon and cheese wrap with the beaten egg. Then if you’re adding some sprinkles on top, do this now – we’ve just used a pinch of Italian herbs on each turnover.
Step Three – bake the cheese and bacon turnovers
- Place the tray of bacon turnover into the oven and cook for around 30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and risen and the bacon cooked through properly.
- Once cooked, remove from the tray and allow to cool slightly before eating.
