ingredients for cheesy chips - McCain home chips, grated cheese and Schwartz spicy italian seasoning on a white table
  • 600g Frozen Oven Chips - we use the McCain Home Chips for our chips with cheese recipe
  • 150g Grated Cheddar Cheese - we buy this ready grated

  • Pinch of salt

How To Make Cheesy Chips

Our homemade chips and cheese is super easy!

Step One - season and cook the frozen oven chips

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature on the chip packet (it's usually around 230C)
  • Spread the frozen oven chips onto a baking tray, make sure they're all flat with no overlapping. That way they cook better.
  • Sprinkle over the spicy Italian seasoning.
  • Cook the chips in the oven for 24 minutes - give the tray a shake around the halfway time, to ensure the chips cook evenly.

Step Two - sprinkle on the grated Cheddar cheese

  • Scatter the grated cheese over the cooked chips - don't worry if some goes onto the tray it'll just melt in-between the chips and make cheese crisps, and they're delicious!

  • Put the tray of cheese covered chips back into the oven for around 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted deliciously and starting to bubble and turn golden.
