  • Chopping board
  • Vegetable knife
  • Weighing scales
  • Mixing bowl
  • Tablespoon
  • Wooden spoon
  • Oven proof dish

Christmas Apple And Mincemeat Crumble Ingredients

You'll just need a handful for regular baking ingredients, some baking apples and a jar of mincemeat to make this yummy Christmas crumble recipe.

For the fruity apple and mincemeat crumble filling

  • 4 Bramley Apples – Bramley’s are a British cooking apple, you can swap this with any other apple you prefer. 
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar 
  • 250g mincemeat - you can add more or less to your own taste - this is a good recipe for using up any leftover mincemeat.

For the oaty crumble topping

  • 180g plain flour
  • 100g unsalted butter – at room temperature 
  • 50g oats 
  • 50g caster sugar - you can use golden caster sugar if you prefer

Cooks Note! We use shop bought mincemeat in our crumble, but you could have a go at making your own mincemeat if you like!

How To Make Apple And Mincemeat Crumble

You are going just love how easy this delicious Christmas Crumble is to make

Step One – preheat the oven 

  • Preheat the oven to 180C / 350F / Gas Mark 4

Step Two – prepare the Bramley apples 

  • Peel and core the Bramley apples 
  • Chop the apples into small pieces and pop them into the oven proof bowl.
  • Scatter over the brown sugar and mix it into the apples.

  • Next, add the mincemeat to the apples and mix well to combine all the flavours together.

Step Three – mix up the oat crumble topping 

  • Add the butter to the flour in a mixing bowl.

  • Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips until the crumble mix resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  • Next tip in the oats and sugar and stir them through the crumble mixture. 

Step Four – put the apple and mincemeat crumble recipe together

  • Scatter the crumble topping mixture over the sugary mincemeat coated apples. Don’t pack it down, just let it cover the apples loosely.

Step Five – bake the Christmas apple crumble recipe in the oven 

  • Put the apple and mincemeat crumble into the oven and bake for around 35 – 40 minutes or until the top is turning golden and the fruit all jammy and oozing up through the oaty crumble topping.

For the apple and mincemeat crumble filling

  • 4 Bramley apples - peeled and chopped into bitesized pieces
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 250g mincemeat

For the oat crumble topping

  • 180g plain flour
  • 100g unsalted butter - at room temperature
  • 50g rolled oats
  • 50g caster sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C / 350F / Gas Mark 4
  2. Peel and core the Bramley apples
  3. Chop the apples into small pieces and pop them into the oven proof bowl.
  4. Scatter over the brown sugar and mix it into the apples.
  5. Next, add the mincemeat to the apples and mix well to combine all the flavours together.
  6. Make the crumble topping - add the butter to the flour in a mixing bowl.
  7. Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips until the crumble mix resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  8. Next tip in the oats and sugar and stir them through the crumble mixture.
  9. Scatter the crumble topping mixture over the sugary mincemeat coated apples. Don’t pack it down, just let it cover the apples loosely.
  10. Put the apple and mincemeat crumble into the oven and bake for around 35 – 40 minutes or until the top is turning golden and the fruit all jammy and oozing up through the oaty crumble topping.
  11. Serve still warm with custard, cream or ice-cream
