You’ll LOVE these super easy Christmas Sausage Rolls! Stuffed to bursting with sausage meat, stuffing and cranberry sauce. Totally delicious!
Well it quite simply wouldn’t be Christmas without a platter of sausage rolls now would it?
Our easy homemade festive sausage rolls are perfect with drinks, alongside a Christmas buffet or just as a simple warming lunch, maybe with a cup of homemade soup on the side.
Christmas Sausage Rolls Ingredients
You’ll just LOVE how easy these festive sausage rolls are to make – you only need five ingredients!
- Jus-Rol Puff Pastry Ready Rolled Sheet (320g)
- 350g sausage meat
- 100g sage and onion stuffing – to make 100g use around 50g of dried Paxo stuffing mix
- 100g cranberry sauce
- 1 egg
Equipment Needed
You’ll just need some basic cooking equipment to make our Christmas sausage rolls recipe.
- Baking tray
- Sharp knife
- 2 Spoons
- Measuring jug
- Small bowl
- Fork
- Pastry brush
- Cooling rack
How To Make Christmas Sausage Rolls
Honestly, it’s totally faff free and super easy to make these festive sausage rolls and they taste so good! Just remember to get the pastry out of the fridge around 20 minutes before you start making them.
Step One – Preheat the oven
- Preheat the oven to 200C / 400F / Gas Mark 6 / 180C Fan
Step Two – Make the stuffing
- Use around 50g of the dried Paxo stuffing mix and blend into a spreadable paste using boiling water from the kettle. Once mixed set aside to cool a little. You don’t need to cook it as it will cook in the sausage roll.
Step Three – Make the Christmas sausage rolls
When it comes to how to make sausage roll – it couldn’t be easier! Especially when using ready rolled pastry!
- Unroll the pastry sheet and lay on to the kitchen worktop. You may find it easier to sprinkle a fine dusting of flour on the surface first.
- Then spread the stuffing mixture in a line down the centre of the puff pastry sheet.
- Next add the sausage meat in a line on top of the stuffing.
- Then top with spoonfuls of cranberry sauce dotted along the top of the sausage meat.



- Next, brush the pastry on either side of the filling with beaten egg.
- Then wrap the pastry around the filling to create one big long sausage roll. Brush the top of the pastry with beaten egg.
- Cut the sausage roll into eight equal pieces, add little indents on to the tops and place onto a baking tray.
Step Four – Bake the pork and cranberry sausage rolls
- Cook the Christmas sausage rolls in the oven for around 30 minutes or until the sausage meat is thoroughly cooked throughout and the pastry risen and golden.
- Once cooked remove from the baking tray using a fish slice and leave to cool on a cooling rack.
Step Five – Serve – What to serve with sausage rolls
You can serve this delicious Christmas party food favourite alongside a little pot of cranberry sauce or mustard.
A sausage roll platter is also great served as part of a Christmas buffet alongside sandwiches, pork pies, pizza slices and different salads. Or serve with a great cheeseboard.
Christmas Sausage Rolls Variations
- Go vegetarian – skip the meat and use vegetarian sausage meat recipe or stuff with a tasty mix or mushrooms and chestnuts which will still work well with stuffing and cranberry sauce. Or try our vegetarian cheese and onion rolls here.
- Use shortcrust pastry – if you’re wondering what pastry for sausage rolls, it’s all down to personal preference. Now we love puff pastry sausage rolls, but you can also make this recipe with shortcrust and even the gluten free puff pastry – now the pastry doesn’t rise the same as regular puff pastry but they do taste great!

Can I make sausage rolls ahead of time?
Sure you can! You can make these little festive sausage rolls and then cool, and store in an air tight container in the fridge – they’ll be good for up to 48 hours (as long as the sausage meat is within it’s use-by date)
