Ciao Gusto is the new Italian shop over at Ocado, it’s a sumptuous collection of all my favourite Italian brands, familiar names like Fillippo Berio, Cirio and Lavazza alongside some simply gorgeous Italian ingredients that are new to the UK. Perfect if like me you love to cook Italian food and like to try out authentic ingredients where you can. You can find Ciao Gusto at Ocado here.
Ciao Gusto sent over a Delicius Anchovy Box to tickle my tastebuds and to showcase just how delicious their Italian food range really is. The anchovies come in four flavour varieties.
- double anchovy fillets in olive oil
- double anchovy fillets with Pantelleria capers
- double anchovy fillets with Herbes de Provence
- double anchovy fillets with Italian chilli
The Delicius anchovies come exclusively from the Engraulis encrasicholus species. These anchovies swim in large shoals in the Mediterranean sea and are fished on dark nights using a traditional lampara fishing boat which respects the sea and the sea bed. The anchovies are immediately cured in salt in big barrels, slowly cured for months before being filleted and laid in jars one at a time by hand.
All of these anchovies taste just perfect eaten as they are straight from the jar, however they’d also be excellent and add a depth of flavour to your Italian cooking, there’s a tasty set of Ciao Gusto Italian recipes just here that are perfect for these anchovies.
The anchovies are available to buy in individual jars through the Ciao Gusto shop at Ocado.
