Tinned chopped tomatoes with herbs
We love chopped tomatoes with flavour – either basil, garlic and onion and chilli flavour. Super easy and cheap way to get a good depth of flavour into a sauce quickly. Fab for quick bolognese or as a quick sauce with meatballs and fab in a pasta bake. Worth having a few in the cupboard.
We love the Gourmet Garden stir in pastes especially in the winter when it’s not easy to grow herbs at home. Much cheaper than buying pots of supermarket herbs which never last long. Great for adding quick prep-free flavour to your cooking.
I never make stock. Ever. No time, but I do like nice flavours. My favourite stock cubes are the Kallo Organic range which is gluten free and has no rubbish added in.
Curry paste and sauces
Always keep a couple of jars of curry paste in the fridge we like Pataks. Fab for adding a zing of flavour to your cooking and at minimal cost. Making curry from scratch can work out expensive. Ready made custard
Wouldn’t be without this a tub of deliciously creamy vanilla flecked custard beats the faff of making your own any day. Use to top cakes and puddings, add a custard layer to an easy trifle or pour over stewed fruit.
