- small bunch of thyme
- 160g button mushrooms - cleaned and sliced

How To Make Mushroom Gnocchi
You're really going to like how simple this recipe is, and you'll love the pan fried gnocchi!
Step One - make the creamy mushroom sauce
- Add one tablespoon of olive oil to a pan over a low heat and tip in the chopped garlic. Fry for a couple of minutes, but don't let it brown.

- Next, add the mushroom and sprigs of thyme, fry them in the olive oil until the mushrooms are softened.

- Stir in the half teaspoon of Dijon mustard.

- Then pour in the cream, season with salt and black pepper and stir and let everything simmer along gently whilst you fry the potato gnocchi.

Step Two - pan fry the gnocchi
- Add a tablespoon of oil to a frying pan (non-stick is easiest) then fry the fresh potato gnocchi until it's heated through properly. The Dell Ugo gnocchi we use is quite small and takes around 2-3 minutes to cook through.
Cooks Note! If using larger gnocchi then fry for longer until heated through properly. You can boil the gnocchi if you prefer - just follow the packet instructions.
Step Three - add the fried gnocchi to the creamy mushroom sauce
- Tip the fried gnocchi into the creamy garlic mushrooms.

- Stir well and then add the grated Parmesan cheese. Give everything a good mix together so that the Parmesan melts into the creamy gnocchi sauce.

Step Four - serve the creamy mushroom gnocchi
- To serve just divide into two bowls and pour over any creamy juices from the pan. Then eat straight away, it's far too good to wait!
And that sauce is so delicious, you're going to want to take a piece of bread and wipe it around the pan so you don't miss even a mouthful!

What To Serve With Mushroom Gnocchi
Well, because the sauce is so creamy and delicious, it's best served with a nice salad. Something peppery like our rocket salad works well. Or some wilted spinach with a zingy lemon dressing.
Make Mushroom Gnocchi Your Way
If you like too switch things up in the kitchen and add your own twist to a dish, here's some ideas to vary our gnocchi mushroom sauce.
- Use different kinds of mushrooms - try chestnut mushrooms, shiitake or oyster mushrooms in your sauce.
- Try adding different cheese - add a crumbling of blue cheese in place of the Parmesan.
- Add some meat - try serving scattered with bacon bits, or some sliced really garlicky, buttery cooked chicken breast.
