The two wines up for review are from Dark Horse, their Californian Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Firstly I’m a big fan of Californian wine and wine from that region is my preferred wine. I always think it has a light, fresh flavour.
Dark Horse Chardonnay
The Chardonnay is medium bodied with a clean taste. Flavoured with apple and pear and a slightly spicy warm note and a smooth wine to drink. It was a delicious oaky Chardonnay, a wine I really enjoyed. Perfect for drinking icy cold alongside chicken or steak salads or with a nice light pasta dish.
We think it would go well with our chicken burrito bowls
or delicious spaghetti with prawns
Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon is medium bodied with a slightly sweet, fruity dark berries flavour. Smooth to drink with a chocolatey finish with just a hint of vanilla. It was a nice warming, easy to drink wine. One I’d like to drink snuggled up by the fire on a cold night. It would be perfect for drinking alongside pizza, pasta or burgers.
We think it would go well with our ricotta, ham and spinach pizza
