Making Chicken Tikka Pasties Is A Good Thing, Here’s Why!
Quick and easy! - these are really simple to make, you can make the chicken tikka fresh just for the pasties, or you can use up any leftovers you have from dinner the night before. We cheat with the tikka masala cooking sauce and use a jar so it's much less work. So there's no need to stock up on onions, bell peppers, garlic or Indian spices like turmeric powder, cumin powder, cardamom and ginger.
It's not too spicy - tikka curry is a great spice level for kids to enjoy.
Versatile - you can make these into a great meal with any curry sauce you like.

How To Make Chicken Tikka Pasties
It's super easy to make these chicken tikka pasties
Step One - make the chicken tikka filling
- Add the tablespoon olive oil to the saucepan, heat over a medium heat, then tip in the chicken breast pieces and fry for around 5 minutes, until they start to brown.

- Next, pour in the Tikka Masala cooking sauce, and give everything a stir together to mix. Bring this to the boil and then simmer with the lid off for 10 minutes.
Step Two - preheat the oven
- Heat oven to 200C / 400F / Gas Mark 6 - grab our oven temperature conversion chart with printable here.
Step Three - make the chicken tikka pasty
- Cut the pastry into four equal sections (see cooks note)
Cooks Note! I know, traditional pastries are folded circles, but if you do that with a pastry sheet, you'll be wasting the pastry, so we make these folded rectangles and use ever bit!

Cooks Note! You might find it easier to put the pastry onto the baking tray first, because when you add hot filling onto the pastry, it can make the pastry soggy if you don't fold and seal them and get them on the baking tray fast. Making them on the tray, just makes it easier.
- Next add a couple of spoonfuls of the chicken tikka masala to one half of the pastry rectangles (don't put it too close to the edges)
- Fold the pastry rectangle over and press all around the edges with a fork to seal the pastry together.

Step Three - bake the chicken tikka pasty in the oven
- Brush the tops of the chicken tikka pasties with beaten egg.
- Bake the pastries in the oven for around 25-30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is risen and golden brown and the filling piping hot.
