Step by step guide to getting a natural make up look easily!
I prefer to go all natural or to create a natural makeup look so my skin isn’t caked and so I feel free and fresh!
I’ve created a little makeup routine for a natural makeup look, these are tips and products that I love to use that keep my skin and makeup looking fun and fresh!
Preparing your skin for makeup
Skin care products
- L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Glow Foaming Wash
- Garnier After Sun
Firstly before I start my ‘daily’ makeup routine I like to prep my skin a little bit so I look hydrated and so my skin doesn’t dry out too much.
I like to wash my skin using L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Glow foaming wash, this face wash has face scrub properties and so keeps my skin smooth and exfoliated.
I then rinse my face with cold water to tighten my pores, once my face is all dry I like to apply a little after-sun as it has Aloe Vera and helps keep my face hydrated without causing it to be oily and greasy.
How to make your face makeup look natural
Make up products
- Milani Prime Perfection Primer
- Elf Camo Concealer
- Angela Langford Bloom & Glow Oil (this was a gifted product – read the review here)
I try and prize myself away from foundation as it creates a cakey look and is terrible for my skin however, if my skin looks bad I sometimes do use foundation. But… If you want to achieve a natural fresh look I do recommend staying away from the foundation!
For my base makeup I like to start with a primer in all the places I’ll be applying face makeup as it allows it to look more natural and it gives my face a more ‘awake’ look. I use Milano prime perfection its the perfect primer and it isn’t greasy on my skin.
Once I have primed I apply the elf camo concealer under my eyes and to give it a more dewy look I also apply a drop or two of Angela Langford face brightening oil, I blend this mixture in with a beauty blender as it blends more thoroughly than it would with a brush. I also like to apply concealer on any blemishes or spots I may have on my face.
How to achieve the perfect natural brow
The eyebrows in my opinion are very important, they shape the face and must be well looked after. For my brows I like to keep them natural as they’re a good colour already.
First of all I will brush my brows into place using an eyebrow brush, I then apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, I like to add a little Vaseline to my brush to smoothen the brow pomade and the Vaseline also helps my brows stay in place.
If you want a harsher brow I recommend underlining the brows with concealer to give them a sharper look, however if not then simply apply a little bit of highlight on the brow bone as it gives your face a natural glow.
Natural eye makeup
Eye make up products
For my eyes I like to emphasise my natural features, firstly I will curl my eyelashes and separate them using a clean mascara brush.
Sometimes I like to give my lashes a break and leave them clean however I do feel a light layer of mascara helps your eyes pop and finishes off a makeup look.
I also like to add the slightest touch of a faint burnt orange eye shadow to my eyelid as it helps emphasise my eye colour it allows the blue shade of my eyes to stand out more.
I finally like to add some highlight in the corner of my eye as it makes them look more open, I also add a little highlight on my brow bone, Cupid’s bow and the tip of my nose.
When doing a natural make up look I keep lips totally paired down. I just use a lightly coloured Benefit lip gloss from the Punch Pop range – I pick out a shade depending on what I’m wearing.
