Easy Oven Baked Spicy Chicken Wings

Spicy chicken wings are low cost and really easy to cook. They're perfect for serving as a party platter at gatherings, or for turning into an easy weeknight dinner with rice and salad or red cabbage slaw on the side.

Our quick and easy chicken wing marinade is simple to mix up and tastes delicious! These wings are the perfect balance of crispy, spicy skins and tender baked chicken.

Equipment Needed

  • Mixing bowl - big enough to fit the spicy chicken wings whilst they marinate
  • Small bowl
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Cling film or tin foil to cover the mixing bowl
  • Large oven tray
  • Knife and fork for turning over the spicy chicken wings
  • Meat thermometer
  • Serving platter

Spicy Chicken Wings Ingredients

You'll only need a few ingredients to make up a batch of our chicken wing marinade

For the chicken

  • 1kg chicken wings - you can cut the wings into two pieces at the joint if you prefer, BUT, we keep them whole, because it's easier, and we like easy recipes!

For the spicy chicken wing marinade

  • 3 tablespoon chilli jam
  • 3 tablespoon BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • Pinch salt
  • Pinch of chilli flakes (optional)

How To Make Our Hot And Spicy Chicken Wings Recipe

Step One - mix up the chicken wing marinade

  • In a small bowl tip the chilli jam, BBQ sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika and a pinch of salt (throw in the chilli flakes too if you're using them)
  • Give everything a good mix together using a spoon.

Step Two - marinate the chicken wings

  • Tip the chicken wing marinade into the bowl with the chicken wings. Rub the spicy marinade into the chicken skin and make sure all the wings are coated so that they're all flavourful!

Cooks Note! Be sure to wash your hands extra well after handling raw chicken

  • Cover the bowl with a piece of cling film or tin foil and place in the fridge to marinate for at least 4 hours.

Step Three - oven bake the chicken wings

  • Place the marinated wings into a large roasting tin and roast in the oven for 30 minutes. Then remove the tray, turn the wings over and return to the oven for a further 30 minutes or until the chicken wings are cooked through properly.

Cooks Note! Use the meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken wings is a minimum of 75C at the thickest part - as well as checking that no pink meat or blood remain.

Step Four - serve

  • Tip the oven baked spicy chicken wings onto a serving platter and serve.

  7. Tip the oven baked spicy chicken wings onto a serving platter and serve.

Notes

Be sure to wash your hands properly after handling raw chicken.
