Wondering whether to buy that new food? We’ve been trying out a few food and drink products new to the food market 2019 – and here’s what we thought!
Family Food Tried & Tested – Fruit Tea
First up we tried out a brand new fruity tea drink MayTea – this low calorie tea infusion comes in two flavours – Green Tea with Peach and Mango, and a White Tea with Raspberry and Lychee.
MayTea what you need to know…
We loved them – they were refreshing and sweet, but not overpoweringly so – they both had a lovely fruity flavour which came through nicely and tasted great – fab price and great for on the go at work or college.
- Low calorie
- Infusions made using whole tea leaves – no powdered tea extracts
- No artificial sweeteners, flavours or colours
- The green and white teas are Rainforest Alliance Certified
- MayTea is available now in Morrisons and BP M&S stores priced at £1.49
Family Food Tried & Tested – Healthy Granola Bars
We’ve been popping these new little granola bars in with packed lunches. The granola bars come in three flavours…
- Chocolate chip
- Chocolate banana
- Mixed berry
Made Good Granola Bars what you need to know
We were split over how we felt about the Made Good granola bars – myself and the older kids liked them – they tasted good and the flavours were pleasant and they’ve happily taken them for packed lunch. The youngest child wasn’t keen, but then he is super picky!
Well, Made Good use all-natural ingredients in their granola bars. Dried fruits, whole grains, pure sunflower oil, no trans-fat and they contain a whole stack of vitamins from natural vegetable sources – the bars are vegan, packed with fibre, vitamins and minerals.
The healthy granola bars are free from some of the most common allergens making them a great snack to take into school especially if your school has allergy rules around packed lunches and snacks. The bars are free from…
Obviously you’d need to check any packs just to be sure of exact ingredients and allergens.
Made Good Granola bars are available from ASDA in packs of 6 priced at £2.79
Family Food Tried & Tested – Hershey’s Cookie & Creme Drops
Oh my goodness – these are delicious! We picked these up in ASDA to throw into homemade cookies but despite buying several packs they’ve not actually made it into the cookies yet.
Priced at just £1.00 a pack – we recommend you stock up! And if you have more will power than we clearly do then they’d made a great little addition stirred into cookie batter.
Family Food Tried & Tested – Get More Vits Water
We tried out the Get More Vits fruity water drinks packed with added vitamins – these drinks are aimed at kids, helping them to pack more vitamins into their diets.
Get More Vits Water Drinks what you need to know
We loved these – the drinks were really nice fruity drinks, really pleasant to drink and a great size for taking to school or putting in packed lunches. As a mum I liked the idea of the kids getting a few more vitamins into their diets – especially the youngest who is a picky eater.
The Get More Vits drinks are sugar free, contain spring water, vegan friendly and contain natural flavourings. You can pick these up at the big supermarkets and lots of smaller stores too.
I think one thing to keep in mind with these drinks is if your children already take a multivitamin supplement you’d need to be careful about the levels of vitamins they’re getting daily.
I think I’d probably not give these to the kids as daily regular drinks but probably use them if their run-down or poorly as a little pick-me-up.
Family Food Tried & Tested – Mini Cheddars Monterey Jack Cheese
Mini Cheddars have a new flavour! Monterey Jack Cheese and they taste GOOD – you can really taste the Monetary Jack flavour – we think these taste delicious dipped into peri peri hummus.
Great lunchbox snack idea. Currently available for just 95p in ASDA.
Disclosure – the MayTea, Made Good Granola Bars and Get More Vits water drinks were provided free of charge for review.
