Super easy to make – this is a really impressive yet simple festive appetizer to throw together, you can use any veggies you like, and make the Christmas tree shape as big or small as you like to suit the number of guests you have.

What is a crudité?

Crudités are simply raw vegetables, sliced or simply prepared and arrange on a platter.

What vegetables are good to use on a crudité platter

You can use any vegetables you like to eat raw, try to include a good mix of colours, textures and flavors on your veggie tray. Good ones to include are;

  • Cucumber
  • Carrots
  • Bell Peppers
  • Zucchini
  • Broccoli – it’s fun to include purple broccoli too
  • Radishes
  • Cauliflower
  • Tomatoes
  • Celery
  • Sugar Snap Peas

What dips are good served with a crudité platter?

We’ve popped some great dip and dipping sauce ideas below, you can either make them at home fresh, or use store-bought. Just do what suits your timings.

Ingredients For A Christmas Tree Crudité Platter

Everything you’ll need to make our super easy, healthy Christmas appetizer

  • head of broccoli – broken into bitesized florets
  • 1/2 English cucumber
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 yellow bell pepper
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes – halved
  • 1/2 cup radishes – sliced
  • 2 handfuls of arugula (rocket) to fill in and add shape
  • 1 cup baby carrots – or try a mix of rainbow carrots
  • Dips to serve

How To Assemble A Christmas Tree Crudité Platter

This is the easiest appetizer to put together, you just need to be a little creative!

Step One – prep the veggies

  • Wash, dry and prepare all the vegetables ready to shape into a Christmas tree.

Step Two – create the Christmas tree shape with green vegetables

  • Grab a Christmas tree shaped platter or just put parchment paper down on a large tray or table. Build you Christmas tree shape using green vegetables.
  • Then add a carrot tree trunk.

Step Three – decorate the Christmas Tree Crudité Platter

  • Then decorate using strips of red and yellow peppers as tinsel and halved cherry tomatoes and radish slices as baubles.
  • Use a piece of yellow pepper cut into a star shape with a cookie cutter as the tree topper.

Step Four – serve the crudité platter

  • Serve with your favourite crudites dips.

Tips For Making Your Crudite Platter Extra Tasty

If you want to make an extra special Christmas Crudité Platter then add in some tasty extras, use ingredients like marinated olives, or antipasti style vegetables, bowls of delicious dips, like homemade beetroot hummus or baba ganoush.

You can garnish the veggie tray with fresh herbs – try dill, fresh basil, flat leaf parsley or fresh oregano – just sprinkle over.

Arrange pretty piles of crackers, breadsticks, or cheeses alongside the platter. Or even make a cheese boards style Christmas tree or charcuterie board to go alongside the veggie one.

This is a super simple recipe to make swaps in, just swap out any vegetables on the crudité platter for different ones. As long as they’re safe to eat raw, you’re good to pile them hight!

Can you make crudités ahead of time?

You can make all the crudités on our Christmas crudité platter ahead of time. Just be sure to dry them well and store them in an airtight container in the fridge so they don’t soften.

You should really aim to use the crudités within a day of making, before they start to spoil and then not look as good on the platter.
