How To Make A Giant Sausage Roll
It's super easy to make and bake this jumbo homemade sausage roll
Cooks Note! Remember to take the pastry sheet out of the fridge around 10-15 minutes before you want to use it.
Step One - preheat the oven
- Preheat the oven to 190C / 375F / Gas Mark 5 - grab our handy oven temperature conversion chart printable here.
Step Two - mix up the sausage meat filling
- Remove the skins from the sausages, and mash the sausage meat with the caramelised onion chutney in a bowl.

Step Three - make the giant sausage roll
- Unroll the puff pastry sheet and place onto a baking tray.
- Spoon the sausage meat filling onto the pastry, just a little off centre so that you've room to fold the pastry over and crimp it closed. Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pastry.

- Use a knife to gently score lines into the top of the pastry sausage roll (be careful not to cut all the way through) Then brush the pastry with the beaten egg all over. And sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Step Four - bake the giant sausage roll
- Put the giant sausage roll into the oven and bake for around 30-35 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden and the sausage meat filling piping hot and cooked properly throughout.
- Once cooked, remove from the oven, slide onto a wire cooling rack and allow to cool for around 5-10 minutes before slicing and eating.
