How To Make Gluten Free Waffles

It’ll only take you a few minutes to whip up our gluten free waffle mix! This is one of my best breakfast recipes

  • Sift the flour into the mixing bowl – grab your mixing bowl and sieve the flour, this will help to stop the batter becoming lumpy.
  • Add the baking powder and caster sugar – just sprinkle them into the sieved flour.
  • Add the egg and a little milk – make a well in the centre of the flour and crack in the egg, pour in a little of the milk and then start to mix a batter. Do this by mixing in small circles just incorporating a little flour to the mix on each stir.

  • Add the rest of the milk slowly – slowly add the milk as you mix the batter, by adding it little at a time it stops the waffle batter becoming lumpy.

  • Continue to mix the batter – until you have a double cream type consistency. Then leave the batter to rest for 5 minutes whilst you heat up the waffle maker.

  • Lightly grease the waffle machine cooking plates – do this once it’s hot enough to cook on.
  • Cook the gluten free waffles – pour the waffle batter into the waffle maker until the squares are just covered. Then close the lid and set the timer for 5 minutes. Don’t keep checking them, leave them to cook.
  • Remove the waffles from the waffle maker – I do this by flipping them out using a silicone spatular so I don’t scratch the non-stick surface of the waffle maker.

How To Make A Waffle Box Dessert

Okay, okay now I know this is the bit you’ve been waiting for! Hot waffles, loaded with juicy summer berries and drizzled in warm melted chocolate with sprinkles. Oh YES!

Since my daughter started to follow a gluten free diet – dessert is the one thing she’s really been craving and our waffle box is just perfect.

  • Grab a box of bowl and layer in the gluten free waffles – drizzle over some maple syrup.

  • Throw in some juicy summer berries – I’ve used strawberries and raspberries but you could add blueberries, blackberries – or other fruits. Just add whatever makes you happy.

  • Pour over melted white chocolate – drizzle it in patterns so it looks extra delicious!

Cooks Tip! I melt the white chocolate in a metal jug stood in a saucepan of boiling water whilst I cook the waffles so it’s ready to pour as soon as the waffles are cooked.

  • Grate over some milk chocolate – this just adds a little extra indulgence and flavour.

Now… I’m not saying you have to… BUT a scoop or two of ice-cream could also be added at this stage. Then tuck in and enjoy! This is a great sharing dessert.
