There’s something oh so delicious about pan fried halloumi coated in lovely sticky sweet chilli sauce. It’s a quick and easy halloumi lunch recipe that tastes just so good!

These are great for cooking on busy days as they take literally no time at all and pack a punchy, delicious flavour!

Equipment Needed To Make Halloumi Pitta

  • Chopping board
  • Sharp vegetable knife
  • Frying pan – non stick is best as you’ll not need to add any additional oil
  • Bowl – choose one big enough to fit the sliced halloumi into
  • Toaster

Halloumi Pitta Ingredients

You’ll only need a handful of ingredients to make our delicious halloumi pitta pockets with pan fried halloumi

  • 220g halloumi – sliced into 8 slices
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 4 pitta breads
  • 150g salad leaves – just choose your favourites
  • 1/2 cucumber – sliced
  • 1 pepper – sliced
  • 1/2 red onion – sliced

How To Make Halloumi Pitta With Sweet Chilli Sauce

This will soon become one of your favourite vegetarian halloumi recipes – it’s super easy to make!

Step One – cook the halloumi

  • Heat the frying pan over a high heat – don’t add any oil.
  • Add the slices of halloumi and cook for around 2-3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook on the other. You really want them to pick up a little colour and start to caramelise.

  • Once cooked – remove them from the pan and put to one side in the bowl.

Step Two – toss the pan fried halloumi in sweet chilli sauce

  • Pour the sweet chilli sauce over the cooked halloumi and toss the cheese and chilli sauce together to make lovely, sticky delicious sweet chilli halloumi.

Step Three – toast the pitta breads ready to make halloumi pitta

  • Put the pitta breads into the toaster and toast until lightly coloured – just a couple of minutes, don’t over cook them.
  • Once toasted split them open – be careful as the steam inside toasted pitta breads is extremely hot!

Step Four – stuff the halloumi pittas

  • Stuff the halloumi pitta with the fresh salad leaves, peppers, cucumbers and red onions.

  • Then add two slices of the sweet chilli halloumi to each pitta bread. And serve your delicious halloumi pitta straight away.

Ingredients
