healthy chicken kebab recipe served in wholemeal pitta breads with fresh salads and herbs.

Our oven baked easy chicken kebab recipe is super tasty and healthy too! Serve in wholemeal pittas with lots of fresh salads.

We’ve teamed up with Ramsay Health Care UK to create a delicious healthy version of a take-away favourite.

Our spiced chicken tikka kebabs are super tasty. The zingy side dishes of minty cucumber raita and spicy tomato salsa are bursting with fresh vegetables.

Now I know… when I order a take-away it’s because I’m feeling lazy!

So I’ve made sure this recipe is super simple, easy to prepare and easy to cook. Plus there’s not much mess to clean up afterwards.

That way it’ll tempt me into cooking kebabs instead of ordering in.

Healthy Chicken Kebab Ingredients

  • 350g chicken breast mini fillets
  • 3 tsp tikka curry paste
  • 1 bag of crunch salad
  • 250g baby plum tomatoes – roughly chopped
  • 1/2 small red onion – finely chopped
  • 1 small red chilli – finely chopped
  • 1/2 punnet mustard cress
  • juice 1/2 lemon
  • 1/3 cucumber – sliced into strips
  • 1 tbs Greek yogurt
  • small handful of mint leaves – shredded
  • 2 wholewheat pitta breads to serve

  • Heat the oven to 200C.
  • Lay a sheet of tin foil onto a baking tray – tip the chicken mini fillets onto the foil, spread over the tikka curry paste, place another sheet of foil on top of the chicken and seal into a bag. Bake in the oven for around 30 minutes. Checking at the end of the cooking time that the chicken is cooked right through and no pink remains.
  • Whilst the chicken cooks make up the side dishes.
  • For the mint cucumber raita, mix the sliced cucumber with the shredded mint and spoonful of Greek yogurt.
  • For the spicy tomato salsa, mix the tomatoes, onions, chillies and mustard cress together, squeeze over the lemon juice and season with just a pinch of sea salt.
  • To serve toast the pitta breads and split them open, fill them with crunchy salad and tikka spiced chicken and top with mint cucumber raita and spicy tomato salsa.

Make chicken kebabs your way

  • If you wanted to you could thread the chicken onto kebab sticks and grill or BBQ.
  • Try turkey breast strips or salmon instead of chicken – adjust the cooking times accordingly.
  • Try different curry pastes thai style works well.
  • Serve on naan instead of pitta breads.
  • Cut the calories by cutting the pitta breads and serving as a salad.
