This time of year is always crazy busy, getting ready for the whole back to school thing can be endless and when your kids are at high school then there’s a whole STACK of essentials they’ll need to pack.
Here’s the list thrown together by teenagers of what they actually use and need for school.
High School Essentials!
School bags are an essential and it has to be one we’re comfortable with and have chosen ourselves. There’s always going to be some kids at high school who will judge you and whilst you should never feel you have to fit in – it’s always best to feel comfortable with your stuff, then you’ll feel more confident.
Try make sure it’s a big enough bag to fit your lunch (if you take it) and your sports kit – it just makes it easier when travelling to and from school and around school if you just have to carry the one bag!
Okay – you’ll just need LOADS of pens – black, blue, red and green. Just ordinary biro style pens and don’t go spending lots of money or splashing out on anything special as we’ll lose them… daily.
This has to be “socially acceptable” it can’t be sad, stupid or look too babyish as you’re really not doing us any favours – we need to pick our own and it needs to fit in…
We need pencils in HB, H, B and 2B – again get lots, they get lost really easily, I’d recommend getting cheap pencils as there’s no point wasting money on what’s going to get lost. Oh and get coloured pencils too, they’re always handy.
These are a total essential! And… if you could have one to take to school and a spare one at home you use just for exams then that’s the best option! When sitting maths test and exams you always need a full maths set, so it saves the last minute drama of rushing out to the shops for one late at night if there’s a spare exam set at home!
None negotiable – you have to turn up at every maths class with a scientific calculator and if you don’t you’ll find yourself with ‘bad notes’ and too many of them ends up with a detention.
A4 Note Pads
Always have at least one A4 note pad in your bag. Essential for taking notes.
These are essential – especially when you’ve got to annotate novels and text – just can’t do without them.
You always need a bottle of Tipex. Always.
Again – get plenty, these get lost and dry up. You’ll need them for class, projects and homework. Glue sticks are a must.
