Beautiful hints, tips and ideas for lightening and brightening up your bedroom to create an airy, summery space you can really relax in.
Colours and Textiles
Keeping the bedroom painted in a neutral shade means that changing the look seasonally is easy and is as simple as switching your textiles and accessories.
Ditch the dark colours and rich thick textiles, instead opt for soft cotton bed linen in white tones or pale pastel shades. Replace heavy knit throws with super light weight throws, perfect for draping over yourself on those nights when the windows are open wide.
Switch warm thick bedroom rugs for simple cotton weaved versions to give a lighter airier feel to the room.
Swap heavy curtains for light window dressings in pale shades, light-weight curtains that catch in the breeze are particularly lovely for summer.
Summer brings beautiful light days and evenings and it’s easy to get used to the natural light. Switching to GU10 LED bulbs can give your bedroom a nicer, softer more natural light than traditional bulbs which could help to create a summery feel all year around. LED bulbs also use less energy too!
Declutter and Refresh
Give your bedroom a top to bottom clean and refresh – empty the warm winter clothes from your wardrobe and pack them away and bring out the light summer clothes and shoes and arrange them neatly in the freshly cleared wardrobes.
Declutter your cupboards and surfaces. Summer is a time for clear airy spaces. Also give the bedroom a good clean using non-toxic cleaner.
Fresh Flowers and Summer Scents
Really bring the summer indoors and add beautifully arranged bouquets of simple flowers to the bedroom. A simple spray of gypsy grass studded with lavender stems not only looks super pretty but will carry a relaxing scent throughout the room.
Add a couple of scented candles to the room – scents like Mimosa, Lavender or Orange Blossom are perfect for a summer bedroom and will leave it smelling divine.
