How To Make British Tapas

Fancy throwing together a board of beige food? We'll show you how to make a classic British Tapas tea in our ultimate foodie guide!

First up, lets get things straight... British Tapas is not a picky bit tea... That's something entirely different altogether...

British Tapas is an enormous platter of classic British junk food, usually freezer-food of a beige colour, arranged with a little flair and effort so that it looks tapas-like...

Now a picky bit tea, that's something that British people make for tea on warm day when they can't be bothered to get the BBQ out.

Picky tea consists of lots of picky bits - like sausage rolls, coleslaw, potato salad, Babybel cheese, packs of ham, pasta salad, breadsticks with hummus...

Essentially packs of ready to eat party food from a supermarket that just needs opening and serving with a bottle of chilled wine or a beer.

Sometimes, we might go all-out with a picky bit tea and warm up a quiche... it'll entirely depend on everyones mood.

How To Make British Tapas

It's ridiculously easy to make a British tapas buffet!

Step One - work out the timings!

Okay, cooking up a big platter of beige freezer food is going to be a little different for everyone. You just need to work out what will fit in the oven and how long it will take to cook.

Also - work out what can be made in the air fryer or microwave and what can be cooked and just kept warm - like the baguettes or waffles and potato smiles.

It's just a matter of trying to get everything to be ready at around the same time.

Step Two - arrange your British Tapas

Grab yourself some large serving platters and boards and when the food is cooked, arrange it all so it looks nice!
