Ingredients For Chicken Fried Rice
Everything you need to make a tasty chicken fried rice at home - plus see below for add-ins

- 1 mug of rice - long grain rice or jasmine rice work well
- 1 tablespoon sunflower oil - you can swap this for vegetable oil if you prefe
- 1 bunch spring onions
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 650g boneless skinless chicken breasts, chopped into bite sized pieces
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion granules
- 2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice seasoning
- 2 eggs - beaten
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
How To Make Chicken Fried Rice - Quick And Easy!

Step One - peel, chop and prep your ingredients
- Prepare all the ingredients so that everything is to hand and you're ready to cook.
Step Two - cook the rice
- Cook the rice as per the packet instructions, then drain using a colander and stand to one side. Whilst the rice cooks, quickly get on with frying the chicken and vegetables.
Cooks Note! We don't ever use leftover rice, we always use freshly cooked hot rice in our chicken fried rice dishes. We don't ever reheat rice for this dish. If you wanted to make the recipe quicker, you can use cooked, hot sachets of microwave rice instead of boiling your own.
Step Three - cook the chicken
- Add the sunflower oil to a wok and fry the chicken breast pieces until cooked through properly (smaller pieces take less time to cook than larger ones)
- Season the chicken with the garlic, onion powder and five-spice powder.

Step Four - cook the peas and onions
- Add the peas and spring onions to the pan and continue to fry over a medium-high heat until the peas are cooked through.
- Then remove the chicken and pea mixture from the pan, onto a side plate.

Step Five - make the egg fried rice
- Add a splash of sunflower oil to the pan and tip in the beaten eggs, stir them with a wooden spoon, when they just start to scramble tip in your hot cooked rice, and stir fry everything together.


Step Six - add soy sauce
- Season with the soy sauce.
Step Seven - put the chicken and veggies back in the pan
- Add the chicken and peas back into the pan and mix everything together, fry for a few minutes and then once everything is properly cooked through serve.

Add in any extra vegetables you like to eat, this recipe works well with baby sweetcorn, mushrooms or broccoli florets. You could cut the carbs and use cauliflower rice if you prefer.
