Ingredients For Red Onion Gravy
You'll only need a few ingredients to simmer up a panful of this tasty red onion gravy

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 red onion - chopped or sliced
- 2 teaspoon honey
- 2 teaspoon plain flour
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon onion granules
- 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 400ml beef stock
- pinch salt
- pinch black pepper
How To Make Red Onion Gravy
You'll really like how simple this gravy is to make, and just how delicious it tastes poured over bangers and mash!
Step One - gently fry the red onions
- Add the olive oil to a saucepan over a medium heat.
- Tip in the chopped onions and a pinch of salt and cook for around 5 minutes to soften them.

Step Two - add the honey
- Stir in the honey and cook for a further 1 minute.
Step Three - add the flour
- Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring to coat the onions in flour.

Step Four - add the seasonings
- Stir in the mustard, Worcestershire sauce and add a pinch of pepper.

Step Five - add the hot beef stock
- Slowly pour in the hot beef stock, and mix to a smooth gravy.
Step Six - cook the red onion gravy
- Bring the gravy to the boil, then simmer over a low heat with the lid off for around 10 minutes, to thicken the gravy. Then serve.

How Store Leftover Onion Gravy
Leftover onion gravy can be cooled (within 2 hours of cooking) and stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours.
Alternatively you can cool the gravy and store it in a suitable freezer-safe container for up to 8 weeks. To use, defrost thoroughly in the fridge overnight, then reheat as below.
How To Reheat Onion Gravy
To reheat the gravy, pour into a saucepan and bring to the boil on the hob. Boil for around 5 minutes, stirring often until the gravy is piping hot thought.
