Ingredients For Homemade Chips In Air Fryer

You’ll just need two ingredients to make our Air Fryer Chips, but we’ve also popped some seasoning ideas below too, because flavoured chips are a good thing!

  • Potatoes – skins washed and any dirt or soil removed. I usually use russet potatoes for crispy chips.
  • Olive Oil – you can swap this for rapeseed or sunflower oil if you prefer.

How To Make Homemade Chips In Air Fryer

Prep Time – 10 minutes / Cook Time 35 minutes (approx)

  1. Cut the chips – Slice the potatoes in half lengthways and then cut each one into 3 or 4 chunky chips.
  2. Rinse the excess starch – Throw the potato slices into a colander and rinse them under running cold water from the tap. This will remove some of the excess starch and help them to crisp up better.
  3. Pat the chips dry – just using kitchen paper towels. And then toss them into a mixing bowl.
  4. Coat the chips in oil – Pour the olive oil into the mixing bowl with the chips. Then toss everything together so that the chips are all coated in oil. If you want to keep things lighter use an olive oil cooking spray.
  1. Tip all the chips into the air fryer basket. You don’t need to worry about a single layer as you will toss them a lot as they cook.
  2. Then firstly air fry the chips at 180C for 15 mins. Give the air fryer basket a shake a couple of times whilst they’re cooking.
  3. Then turn the temperature up to 200C and continue to cook for a further 15-20 minutes or until the chips are golden brown, crispy and cooked to your liking. Again, be sure to shake the air fryer basket and toss the chips around a little a few times whilst they cook. This will ensure even cooking.

Add Seasoning – you can add some seasoning to your chips before you air fry, that way the flavour is baked on! Try a sprinkle of garlic and herb, peri peri, smoked paprika, Cajun seasoning, ranch seasoning, spicy Italian. Anything you fancy!

⭐ Rinsing and patting dry the chips is key to getting them crispy and delicious.

⭐ Leftover air fryer chips can be cooled, stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat just pop them back in the air fryer on reheat until they’re fully reheated throughout.

⭐ Add some dips – try BBQ sauce or sour cream on the side.
