Italian Seasoning - Homemade Herb Blend
A homemade Italian seasoning is a delicious way to add a burst of flavour to your Italian recipes – great for pasta, chicken, steak, veggies and salads.
We love to use our homemade Italian seasoning in our recipes. It’s super versatile, and adds a delicious Italian vibe to our pasta sauces, pizzas and is just so good used to season our air fryer chicken breast or delicious air fryer potato wedges with Italian herbs and Parmesan.

Homemade seasoning herb blends are actually really easy to make, plus you can tweak things so they’re just right for your tastes. Fancy more heat? Add some!

Serves – around 10-12 servings or enough to almost fill a Kilner 0.125L jar

Italian Seasoning Ingredients
Wondering what's in Italian seasoning? Here's everything you'll need to make a delicious homemade herb blend.

- 2 tablespoon dried Basil
- 2 tablespoon dried Oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried Rosemary
- 2 tablespoon dried Parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried Thyme
- 2 teaspoon red chilli flakes (adjust this quantity to suit your own tastes, or you can leave it out)
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder

How To Make Italian Seasoning
It’s super easy to make our Italian herbs and spices blend.
Step One - mix the together the Italian herb blend
- Add the dried Basil, Oregano, Rosemary, Parsley, Thyme to a bowl, tip in the garlic powder and red chilli flakes.

- Use the teaspoon to gently mix the herbs and spices together the in the bowl so that everything is completely jumbled. This means you'll get a great burst of flavour in every teaspoon of Italian seasoning you use in your cooking.

Step Two – store the herb blend
- Once you’ve mixed the seasoning, decant it into your clean, dry storage jar and label, ready to use in your cooking.
Cooks Note! Some people like to add salt and sugar to an Italian herb blend, we never add these to ours, we prefer to add any salt or sugar directly to the recipe the herb blend is being used in.
Storing Homemade Italian Seasoning
Keep the Italian herb mix in an air tight container in a dark cupboard, and it'll keep for several months. Although, you'll have probably used it all up in a matter of weeks!
