Jam jar flower ideas

Sharing is caring!

jam jar filled with fresh cut flowers and herbs from the garden

Pretty jam jar flowers make such a beautiful floral centrepiece – rustic, effortlessly stylish and just oozing boho charm! Best of all jam jar flowers are such a quick win – super simple to make and a really low cost way to decorate for parties, weddings, picnics or just because you LOVE them.

Where do I buy empty jam jars from?

You can buy jam jars especially for your flowers – this might be a good idea if you want a uniform look for decorating a wedding or super smart party – you’ll find empty jam jars for sale at places like…

  • Lakeland
  • The Range
  • Wilko
  • Hobbycraft

Or if you’re like me you can just re-purpose any empty glass jam jars you’ve got – if you’re decorating a large party or event then ask friends and family to save them too. I kinda think that jars in different sizes and shape just add to the charm so I would always use old jars for my jam jar flowers.

Jam jar flower arrangement ideas

When it comes to filling your jam jars with flowers just put in whatever flowers make you happy.

I like a herby collection for on the kitchen windowsill – little sprigs of deliciously scented rosemary, perhaps a few stems of lavender, sprigs of thyme, gypsy grass and a couple of stems from whatever happens to be in bloom in the garden.

The beauty of jam jar flowers is you really don’t need very much to make one, even if you are buying the flowers especially you’ll find you don’t need to spend a fortune.

How to decorate jam jar flowers

Jam jar flower bouquets are a really cheap way of brightening up a room or using to decorate for little parties or gatherings. You can embellish the jam jars with ribbon, burlap or fabric just simply wrapped in strips around the jar. Or try using gardening twine tied in a simple bow. It’s best to keep your jam jar flowers understated – just let them be beautiful naturally.
