The Marques de Caceres winery in the heart of La Rioja has a long and rich history devoted to the wine trade spanning the last five generations. Noted producers of great quality wine that can be enjoyed alongside delicious food with family and friends.
Marques de Caceres sent over a selection of their wine for us to taste and pair with some great food ideas.
Marques de Caceres Verdejo White
This is a really lovely, fresh, clean white wine with a citrus vibe – it feels light and refreshing to drink, with quite a sharp pleasant note – we think this would be the perfect wine to drink with fish, seafood or maybe something a little spicy. It would be great with a selection of tapas – like our pan fried prawns with garlic and fennel.
Marques de Caceres Rosado Rosé
I hold my hands up – ordinarily I don’t drink rosé wine – it tends to be overly sweet, sticky and unpleasant to drink. The Rosado Rosé however is very different, it’s made from a blend of Tempranillo and Grenache grapes and has a lovely deep pink, almost pale red colour, not the wishy washy pale pink that rosé tends to be.
The wine is deliciously dry, medium bodied and with floral and fruity berry notes – it’s one of the nicest rosé wines I’ve tried. We think the wine would go very well with pasta, chicken or salads. A dish like our red pepper pesto would be delicious.
Marques de Caceres Blanco White
Marques de Caceres Blanco is a lovely wine to drink on a sunny day alongside a great salad or with a light fish dish. A rich but dry wine with notes of grapefruit and pears – it’s crisp and refreshing to sip, really zips at the taste buds. We think this wine would go fantastically with our Greek Salad bowl for an easy laid back sunshine lunch.
Disclosure – the wine was sent over free of charge from Marques de Caceres for the review – for full details of my disclosure policy please read here.
