M&M’s Chocolate Flapjack Ingredients

- 150g Butter
- 50g Soft Brown Sugar
- 2 tbs Golden Syrup
- 220g Rolled Oats
- 50g Ready Brek Instant Porridge
- 200g Chocolate
- Pack of M&M’s (we use the 133g packs)
How to make M&M’s chocolate flapjacks
- Preheat the oven to 180C
- Grease and line 20cm square tin with butter and baking paper. You don’t need to be super neat here, just whack it in.

- Add the butter, brown sugar and golden syrup to a large deep pan and melt all the ingredients together over a low heat on the hob. Stir gently.

- Once everything has completely melted and is all stirred together remove the pan from the heat.

- Tip in the porridge oats and Ready Brek.

- Mix the oats into the melted butter mixture until all the oats are well coated.

- Tip the flapjack mixture into the lined baking tin.

- Press the mixture down firmly into the tray using the back of a spoon. Smooth the top over so it’s flat. Then bake in the oven for 15 minutes.

- Once the flapjack base is cooked – remove from the oven and leave on a wire rack to cool for around an hour.
- Once the flapjacks are cooled melt the chocolate ready for topping. Do this by breaking the chocolate into chunks and putting it into a jug, stand the jug in a pan of boiling water and stir carefully until fully melted.
- Pour the chocolate onto the flapjacks.

- Then using the back of a spoon simply spread the chocolate across the top of the oats so the whole top is covered in chocolate.

- Next sprinkle over the M&M’s, press them slightly into the chocolate that way as the chocolate sets in the fridge the M&M’s will be embedded nicely.

- Put the M&M’s chocolate flapjacks into the fridge to set – this usually takes around an hour.
- Then remove the from the fridge and slice them carefully into 12 pieces. Again, you don’t need to be super neat here – these are a rustic little treat!

How to store flapjacks?

I store the flapjacks in an air tight container in the fridge. They’ll stay good for around 5 days but you’ll probably never find out as they’ll all be eaten way before then!
