Copper Dog Whisky

Copper Dog is a premium blended Scotch whisky. It’s a special blend of eight single malt whiskies married in oak casks, first created in the Craigellachie Hotel in Scotland.

Copper Dog is smooth, whisky, easy to drink both neat or mixed, with fruity flavours with a touch of vanilla and spices.

To make a New York Sour drink you’ll need…

  • 50ml whisky – we used Copper Dog whisky
  • 25ml fresh lemon juice
  • 25ml sugar syrup
  • 1 small egg white
  • 25ml red wine – choose a fully bodied fruity wine like Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Ice – you’ll need some to shake and some to serve

How to make a New York Sour Cocktail

  • Pour the whisky, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white into the cocktail shaker, fasten the lid on tightly and shake really well, you want the egg white to really be frothing up nicely.
  • Open the cocktail shaker and add a good handful of ice, then re-fasten the lid and shake again, until the ouside of the cocktail shaker is freezing cold to the touch and covered in condensation.
  • Add a handful of ice to a small tumbler, then strain the cocktail slowly over the ice cubes. Let it settle for a minute.
  • Next take a spoon and hold it so the red wine can run slowly over the back of the spoon and on to the surface of the cocktail. You want to do this slowly and carefully, then the wine will settle on top of the whisky but below the frothy top.

A smooth mix for a New York Sour cocktail

Ingredients

  • 50ml whisky 
  • 25ml lemon juice - freshly squeezed 
  • 25ml sugar syrup 
  • 1 small egg white 
  • 25ml red wine 
  • ice 

Instructions

  1. Take your cocktail shaker and pour in the whisky, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white. Fasten the lid on tightly and shake really well, you want the egg white to really be frothing up nicely.

  2. Open the cocktail shaker and add a good handful of ice, then re-fasten the lid and shake again, until the ouside of the cocktail shaker is freezing cold to the touch and covered in condensation.
