Perfect Night In

Now the nights are dark early and there’s a nip in the air my thoughts have turned to the The Perfect Night In. For me the Perfect Night In is on a Saturday. One of those nice Saturday’s where you’ve been out in the park or at the beach all afternoon and so the kids are all hungry and tired.

Dinner has to be Mexican food. There needs to be spicy chicken fajitas – the ones where everyone helps themselves and makes up their own fajitas adding the toppings they fancy.

There needs to be lots of toppings – fresh crunchy shredded lettuce, spicy tender chicken, mounds of Monterey Jack cheese, cool sour cream with chives, freshly made oven roasted tomato salsa and real guacamole all zingy with lots of lime. For an added treat there has to be a tray of freshly grilled cheesy nachos – topped with jalapeños.

My perfect night in with the kids watching funny films, eating ice cream and plenty of giggles

Once dinner has been devoured – there needs to be pyjamas and a little bit of ‘friendly’ competition with a board game… a bit of an old school classic like Monopoly! You can’t beat the old games.

Then it’s time to snuggle on the sofa with a film and chocolate coated popcorn – maybe hot chocolate before bed.

Once the kids are in bed then it’s candles and wine – just to end the night properly.

My perfect night in when the children have gone to bed and I can light the candles and sip red wine
