Peri Peri Chicken Pasta Ingredients

You'll just need a handful of simple ingredients to make our delicious one pan chicken pasta recipe

peri peri chicken pasta ingredients on a white table. Diced chicken breast, peppers, red onion, chilli, pasta, passata, garlic, coriander and olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 red onion - diced
  • 1 red pepper - diced
  • 1 clove garlic - finely chopped
  • 1 red chilli - optional, this adds and extra kick of heat, you can deseed the chilli for less heat or skip it altogether.
  • 2 teaspoon peri peri seasoning - if you don't want your chicken pasta as spicy, then use just 1 teaspoon as peri peri seasoning can be very spicy! We use the Schwartz piri piri seasoning mix.
  • 550g chicken breasts - diced into small bitesized pieces
  • 300g penne pasta - feel free to use a different shaped pasta - fusilli or farfalle are both good
  • 650g passata
  • Boiling water from the kettle - to top up the pan so the pasta is covered
  • Pinch salt
  • 150ml double cream - optional, you can eat it just tomato based, but we love the creamy sauce
  • Handful coriander leaves - roughly chopped

Step Three - add the pasta and passata

  • Tip in the uncooked penne, the passata, and a good pinch of salt. Give everything a good mix together.
  • Then pour in enough boiling water from the kettle to just cover the pasta, give everything a stir again.
  • Then bring the pan to the boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer, put the lid on and cook for around 20 minutes or until the pasta is cooked and the chicken cooked through properly. The sauce will reduce down as the pasta absorbs the water.

Cooks Note! Stir the pasta often, and if it looks like it needs a little more water add some from the kettle.

Step Four - add cream to the cooked peri peri chicken pasta

  • If you're making the creamy chicken pasta, now is the time to add the cream, it just makes the sauce extra rich and delicious. Just pour it into the peri peri chicken pasta and stir.
  • Add a handful of chopped coriander and stir that into the chicken pasta too.
