Peri Peri Chicken Wraps

Our peri peri chicken wraps are super tasty and super fast! Tender chicken pieces with peppers and onions, all wrapped up in a soft flour tortilla. An easy meal idea the whole family will just LOVE!

Not only are our peri peri chicken wraps really quick and simple to make, they taste amazing. Whenever I cook these peri peri wraps, the kids love them and I’m guaranteed empty plates. 

Homemade chicken wraps are an ideal recipe for a busy weeknight when you’re short on time and need dinner to be ready fast and taste good. 

This is one of my favourite easy chicken recipes. It’s always good to have a few easy chicken breast recipes to hand, especially when feeding a family. Because kids just seem to love any kind of chicken dinners!

Peri Peri Chicken Wrap Ingredients

Here’s what goes in a chicken wrap

  • 1 tbs of olive oil – you could use rapeseed or sunflower oil if you prefer. 
  • 650g chicken breast – cut into bitesized pieces, you could buy the chicken breast mini fillets to save you having to chop up the chicken pieces. 
  • 1 red or orange pepper – roughly chopped – feel free to add in more veggies if you like – courgettes or mushrooms all work well. 
  • 1 onion – sliced into wedges
  • 2 tsp peri peri seasoning – I use the Schwartz piri piri seasoning for my chicken wraps. This is a great seasoning mix to have in the cupboard to liven up. chicken, fish or even add a bit of something extra to roast potatoes.
  • Pinch salt

To Serve

Okay so you definitely need the tortilla wraps and the salad for serving. But it’s also nice to add a few extras – our favourites are below.

  • 4 tortilla wraps – the large soft flour ones are best for this recipe – you could switch to wholemeal or seeded if you wish. 
  • Bag of salad leaves – the kids prefer these made up with a crunchy salad mix – the bags with the Iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, carrot ribbons are a good choice.
  • Corn cobs
  • Nando’s Perinaise

How To Make Peri Peri Chicken Wraps

Our simple chicken wrap recipe will be on the table and ready to eat in around 30 minutes – great for weeknight dinner

  • Add the olive oil to a large frying pan or wok over a medium heat.
  • Tip in the chicken pieces, sliced pepper and onion wedges and stir fry briskly for 5 minutes.
  • Then add the peri peri seasoning and a pinch of salt. Continue to cook for a further 10-15 minutes until the chicken is completely cooked through and no pink remains.
  • Make up the wraps – add salad leaves, add some peri peri chicken with vegetables and wrap the tortilla, tucking the ends in.

  • Veggie rice – a quick rice dish that’s packed with healthy vegetables.
  • Ranch pasta salad – serve the peri peri chicken in a bowl for everyone to make their own wraps and add a side dish of ranch pasta, which you can make ahead for an easy weeknight dinner.

Make Peri Peri Chicken Wraps Your Way

We’ve given you a basic chicken wrap recipe but there’s loads of different directions you can take it in to really make it your own. 

I’m a big fan of using up leftovers and switching ingredients to suit your own likes. You could try our chicken wraps with…

  • Make this recipe with chicken mini fillets if you prefer (this just saves on the chopping up of the chicken – you’ll just need to adjust cooking times to be a little longer to ensure they’re cooked through properly)
  • If you don’t like spicy chicken then swap the peri peri seasoning for a milder flavour like smoked paprika and a pinch of Italian herbs.
  • Add more vegetables – chunkily chopped courgette or mushrooms taste great.
  • Don’t fancy a wrap? – just serve the chicken on a bed of fluffy rice, add a dash of Nando’s peri peri sauce.

Super tasty chicken wrap recipe that's great for weeknight dinner

Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 tbs olive oil

  • 1 onion - sliced into wedges
