Equipment Needed

  • Air fryer – we use a  Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone Air Fryer – the 9.5 litre two drawer cooking space is BRILLIANT when you’re cooking for a family. And it makes cooking meat, chicken or fish and potatoes at the same time super easy!
  • Tongs – just makes it easier to lift the tuna melt wrap from the air fryer basket. I’d definitely recommend you get yourself a set of silicone tongs if you do lots of air frying. They just make it so much easier to remove or flip food. Plus they don’t scratch the air fryer non-stick coating.
  • Food thermometer – I totally recommend getting yourself a food thermometer, especially for air frying, it really gives me peace of mind when cooking. I like to know that food is cooked to the right temperature.
  • Chopping board
  • Vegetable knife
  • Medium bowl
  • Cheese grater
  • Tablespoon

Tuna Melt Variations And Add-Ins

Tips, ingredient swaps and add-ins to try

Swap the cheese – skip the sharp Cheddar cheese and use different cheese – try shredded mozzarella, slices of provolone, or regional cheeses like Red Leicester or Creamy Lancashire cheese.

Go spicy – fancy a kick of heat? Add some chilli sauce into the tuna mayonnaise, or throw in a few chopped jalapeño. You could also try adding a spreading of relish to the wrap before adding the tuna mayo.

Add more herbs and seasonings – you could try mixing in some Dijon mustard with the mayo, or add in some fresh herbs like dill, basil or oregano.

Use different wraps – you can make these using whole wheat wraps, seeded wraps or try corn tortillas or gluten-free wraps.

Make it gluten free – use gluten free wraps and be sure that all other ingredients used are certified gluten free too.

Love your leftovers – if you have any leftover tuna salad, you could use this for sandwiches the next day.
