Having spent the last few weeks reviewing the Logitech ultra thin magnetic clip-on keyboard cover for the iPad mini (also fits iPad mini with retina display) here’s everything you need to know.
Firstly, I didn’t think I’d like it. I’m an Apple purist and I wasn’t sure I’d be happy with any add-on gadgets… BUT, I was wrong, it was very useful, very usable and I liked it.
the looks ‘bit’
The outside cover is smooth brushed high-grade aluminium in space grey colour. I actually preferred the hard solid case to my usual iPad Smart Cover, especially when carrying it in my bag which is usually packed with *stuff* I felt it gave a little extra protection to the screen. The keyboard is black and when it’s put together looks very like a mini laptop. The keyboard is only 6.4mm thick and super light weight. Loved the fact the keyboard hinge fits onto the iPad just like the Smart Covers. It’s neat, tidy and thin.
the usability ‘bit’
Super easy to set up. iPad just slides easily into the keyboard hinge and the magnets hold it securely. The hinge allows you to tilt the iPad just like you would a laptop screen. The keyboard is quick to pair with the iPad, just a matter of switching the keyboard on and clicking connect on bluetooth in settings.
I found typing on the keyboard quick, it was easy to touch type as the keys are well-spaced and the iOS shortcuts a good practical addition.
I particularly liked typing on the keyboard when busy in the kitchen, it was more convenient to have the screen at a good angle and to be able just type straight onto the keyboard without having to pick up or touch the iPad.
The keyboard was also great to use on the train when travelling and good for working on when doing spreadsheets.
Keyboard comes with micro-USB cable for recharging so it’s easy to charge.

The Logitech ultra thin keyboard is a good add on gadget for the iPad. Easy to use, handy and thin. If you use the iPad a lot for work when travelling then for £69.99 I’d say it’s a worthwhile purchase.
