RECIPE VARIATIONS AND INGREDIENT SWAPS
Flavour things up differently!
Add a hit of extra flavour to your casserole, just BBQ or curried beans, add in some BBQ sauce or smoked paprika, or even just a sprinkle of fresh chopped chillies or chilli powder for some extra heat!
You can also add in some extra veggies - try mushrooms or butter beans.
Sausage and baked bean casserole slow cooker
Turn this into a slow cooker recipes - You can use the slow cooker to make this yummy sausage recipe. Just be sure to brown the sausages first in a frying pan. Switch the slow cooker onto low. Then it's a 'dump and go' recipe. Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker - only a half can of water though, give it a mix. And leave to cook for around 8 hours.
Turn it into a sausage and bean bake
Fancy a nice bake for dinner? Then top this sausage casserole with fluffy mashed potatoes or a mixture of potato, sweet potatoes and mashed veggies like carrots, swede and parsnips. Then finish in the oven until the mash browns. When I do it this way, I like to scatter over some crispy fried bacon too.
