I absolutely love making aromatic simmer pots, they’re super simple and all natural and when I want to get my home smelling great, natural fragrances are my favourite way to go.
How To Make A Simmer Pot
Wondering what a simmer pot is? Well, there’s literally nothing easier than making a simmer pot. All you need is a large saucepan, which you fill at least just past half way with water and then add your favourite combination of aromatics.
Bring the saucepan of water and simmer pot ingredients to a gentle simmer on the hob, so steam slowly comes up out of the pan.
Then just leave it simmering away on the hob, making sure to check it every 20-30 minutes or so and top up the water level. You don’t want to let your simmer pot dry up.
When it comes to choosing your aromatics we’ve got ten of the nicest smelling simmer pot recipes for you to try out.
In no time at all they’ll have your home smelling just delicious and best of all, it’s all natural, no harsh chemicals at all. Simmer pots are just the best home fragrance.

How To Store And Re-use Your Simmer Pot Ingredients
Once you’ve finished with your simmer pot, drain any remaining water using a sieve. Then allow the ingredients to cool down and store in an air tight box in the fridge.
You can keep the ingredients and re-use the next day. Then I’d usually discard as they start to lose their scent after 2 simmers.
*Health Caution*
When using natural essential oils it’s important to note that some natural essential oils are contraindicated for use with certain health conditions and pregnancy.
Always check before you use them and if in doubt consult a qualified aromatherapist. Always store essential oils out of reach of children and pets
