Tips For Making The Best Flapjacks And Adding In Different Ingredients
How Long Will Homemade Fruit Flapjacks Last?
Keep these fruit flapjacks in the fridge in an airtight container, and they'll last up to 4-5 days. Although they'll probably all be eaten way before then!
Are Fruit Flapjacks Healthy?
Well, in terms of containing nutritious oats and dried fruit, they're good. Although you do need to keep in mind overall sugar and fat intake - theses flapjacks are great as part of a balanced diet.
What Seeds Can You Put in Flapjacks?
You can add a couple of tablespoons of seeds to the flapjack mixture if you wish. Try adding a seed snack mix, pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds. You can also add in some nuts, try chopped hazelnuts or flaked almonds. You could also add a pinch of cinnamon too.
Can You Use Frozen Fruit to Make Fruit Flapjacks?
We don't recommend using frozen fruit, it tends to make the flapjacks soggy.
What Fruit Can You Put in Flapjacks?
You can put any dried fruit you like in flapjacks - try sultanas, chopped dried apricots, cranberries or even fresh blueberries (grab our blueberry flapjacks recipe here)
How Do I Stop My Flapjacks Falling Apart?
The key to a GREAT flapjack is to add in some instant porridge, this gives the flapjack a more cake-y texture with just the right chewiness, which doesn't crumble and fall apart in the same way as flapjacks made just using steel cut oats.
Should I Cut Flapjack Hot Or Cold?
Cutting flapjacks after they're completely cool (or preferably chilled in the fridge) is the best option. The flapjacks cut more cleanly and don't tend to fall apart or crumble.
