Simple Spring Home Refresh - 5 Quick Jobs For A Fresher Home

As the weather starts to brighten up and the days get longer, it’s the perfect time to give your home a gentle spring home refresh. No big deep cleans or endless to-do lists — just a few small switches and cosy upgrades to help your space feel lighter, brighter, and ready for the new season.

Throw the windows wide open. One of the easiest and best ways to shake off winter is to open up the windows and let that fresh spring air in. Try to air out every room in the house — even just for 10 minutes — to freshen things up and get rid of that stuffy, central-heating feel.

Extra Tip! While the windows are open, take the chance to wipe down the sills and frames — it takes two minutes and makes everything feel that little bit fresher.

There’s nothing lovelier than climbing into bed with freshly washed bedding that’s been dried outside on the line. It smells amazing, feels crisp and clean, and brings a bit of that spring sunshine indoors.

Wash your duvet covers, pillowcases and throws, then hang them out to dry on a bright, breezy day. While you’re at it, give your mattress a quick vacuum and spritz with linen spray to really freshen things up.

Extra Tip! Switch to lighter bedding if you’ve been using thick winter duvets — spring’s all about soft layers and breezy comfort.

Whether it’s a bunch of daffodils from the supermarket or some tulips from the garden, fresh flowers instantly brighten up a room. Pop a small vase on the kitchen table, windowsill or bedside table to add a splash of colour and seasonal cheer.

Extra Tip! Not into fresh flowers? Try a potted herb like mint or basil on the kitchen counter — useful and lovely!

4. Glow Up The Hallway

The hallway sets the tone for your home, and after a long winter, it usually needs a little TLC. Clear away any clutter, wipe down the front door and give the floor a good sweep or mop. Swap out heavy winter coats and boots for lighter jackets and shoes, and maybe add a cheerful doormat or a reed diffuser in a fresh spring scent.

Extra Tip! Pack away hats, scarves and gloves into storage baskets or drawers to keep things tidy and seasonal

Fold away those thick, chunky blankets and faux fur cushions — and bring out the lighter, brighter soft furnishings. Think cotton throws, linen cushions, pastel tones, and floral prints. It’s a small change, but it makes your space feel more open and fresh for the warmer months.

Extra Tip! Don’t forget to give your sofa a quick vacuum and fluff the cushions — it makes all the difference!
