Skyscrapers and skylines: Top 4 city views in the UK

Across the UK, you can find several beauty spots which are must-see sights for both UK citizens and tourists. In some of the UK’s major cities, you can enjoy the beautiful and famous skylines and skyscrapers that are known worldwide. To help you discover some of the UK’s best viewpoints, take a look at this city guide which will help you find the best beauty spots on British soil.

London

The capital city is known for many things including its eclectic culture and of course its expansive skyline, which is enjoyed by over 30 million visitors every year. For spectacular sights above the city, you can visit The Shard, which is London’s tallest building featuring a hotel, restaurants, bars and even a beauty salon. They also have a number of special events throughout the year which involves viewing in the highest cinema in the UK, silent discos, a breakfast club and more.

Another great place to grab breakfast with a view is at One New Change’s roof terrace which offers impressive views of St Paul’s Cathedral. Here you can enjoy an evening meal and a cocktail at Madison’s Restaurant and Bar while enjoying the sunset over the world-famous dome at St Paul’s.

Liverpool

One of the most famous skylines in the world is located in the coastal city of Liverpool. This consists of the famous Liverbird building which can be seen from several rooftop bars including Oh Me Oh My, where you can witness one of the best sunset sights across the city. For a complete view of the picturesque skyline, you should catch a ferry to the Wallasey Seacombe Pier which will enable you to see Liverpool’s architecture in all its glory.

Many new build properties are now being constructed with the Liverpool skyline in mind. RWinvest has a number of properties with rooftop terraces which look over the Liverpool waterfront. These have proven popular with tenants who are looking to live in a convenient location with a great view across the Mersey.

Manchester

Another northern city that is home to some of the best viewpoints in the UK is Manchester. Here you can enjoy views of the countryside from rural areas like Stormy Point in Alderley Edge, which overlooks Cheshire and on a clear day, you may even catch a glimpse of the Pennines in the background.

In the city centre, there are several beauty spots where you can enjoy Manchester’s backdrop. This includes Cloud23 which is a bar located on the top of the Hilton that has floor to ceiling windows which allow you to take in the breathtaking view of Manchester by night. If you’re looking for another great stay with a view, you should book a room at the King Street Townhouse which is known for its rooftop infinity pool that is the perfect spot for urban viewing.

Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital city is another location that is known for its picturesque sights due to its beautiful architecture, including Edinburgh Castle which is a popular sightseeing hotspot. Arguably one of the best views in Edinburgh is from atop of Carlton Hill next to the Dugald Steward Monument. Here you can see right across to the castle as well as the many other sandstone buildings which make Edinburgh stand out from other UK cities.

For a more rural view of Edinburgh, you may want to hike up to Arthur’s Seat, which is an extinct volcano in Holyrood Park offering a panoramic overview of Edinburgh from its peak. To reach this must-see sight, it would take two hours there and back, which may seem like a lot but the hike is definitely worth it.
