Slow Cooker Beef Curry Recipe Tips!
How do you thicken beef curry in a slow cooker?
- Add 3 teaspoon cornflour to a small cup.
- Mix it into a paste with a drop of cold water from the tap.
- Pour the paste into the curry and then cook for around 5-10 minutes to thicken up the sauce. Repeat if needed.
Can you cook raw beef in a slow cooker?
Yes! Just throw it in and add your sauce ingredients. Some people prefer to brown and seal the meat in batches in a frying pan first.
But honestly when it comes to slow cooking, we really don't think the effort is worth it flavour wise. So cut yourself a whole lot of time and cook it from raw.
How do you make a beef curry taste better?
Well... when it comes to a curry, it's all down to personal preference but some quick ways to add an extra kick of flavour include...
- Add some sweetness - stir a couple of tablespoons of mango chutney through your curry.
- Add some more seasoning - sometimes a curry just needs a pinch of salt to give it a lift.
- Add some citrus - if the curry tastes too heavy or creamy, cut through this with a squeeze of lemon or lime juice.
What's the best cut of beef for a curry?
Braising steak or steak mince work really well in slow cooker beef curry. They're suited to long, slow cooking.
How to freeze beef curry?
Just let them cool - within 2 hours of making. Then toss them in a freezer-safe bag or airtight container. You may store leftovers in the freezer for up to a month; I often do this and then be sure to include them in my meal plan over the next few weeks.

How to reheat beef curry?
If curry is frozen, defrost thoroughly prior to reheating.
To reheat the curry place it in a saucepan on the hob and warm slowly to a boil – then simmer for around 10 minutes or until the food is piping hot and heated properly throughout.
You can also reheat this in the microwave in a suitable container on high for around 5-6 minutes, stirring half way through heating. Check food is thoroughly reheated throughout prior to eating.
