Super easy Spicy Sausage Pasta recipe with roasted peppers and tomatoes – a quick, flavourful meal idea that’s easy to make for weeknight dinner.

One of our favourite sausage recipe ideas!

It’s a great weeknight dinner, easy to prepare, easy to cook and so delicious to eat – the spicy tomato sauce is just so good!

The kids just love sausage recipes for dinner with pasta so I’m always looking for tasty ways to serve them and this makes a lovely, filling weeknight dinner the whole family will just love!

Spicy sausage pasta ingredients

  • 6 spicy sausages – We used ASDA Extra Special Pork & Three Chilli Sausages
  • 1 tbs olive oi
  • 1 garlic clove – finely chopped
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds – lightly toasted and ground in pestle and mortar
  • 500g baby plum tomatoes – roughly chopped
  • 3 roasted peppers – deseeded & chopped into bitesize pieces – I tend to use a jar of Cooks & Co roasted red peppers for this recipe – it’s just quicker than roasting my own.
  • 1 small bunch flat leaf parsley – chopped
  • 500g fresh egg penne

TOP TIP – If you want to make our spicy sausage pasta more spicy – just add a pinch of dried chilli flakes to the sauce as you cook.

How to make spicy sausage pasta

Creating pasta dishes with sausage – especially spicy sausages or flavoured sausages is a great way to add a kick of flavour with zero effort.

Spicy sausage and pasta recipe is really simple to make

How to make sausage meatballs

Making your own sausage meatballs is easy and it’s a great way to get 6 sausages to stretch to make a meal to feed 4 people.

  • Slit the sausage skin with a sharp knife
  • Then simply flip the sausage meat from the skin
  • Break or slice the sausage meat into bitesized pieces – you’ll easily get each sausage to make 4 sausage meatballs.

This is the easiest way ever to make sausage meatballs!

How to make sausage pasta

Okay so now you’ve made your sausage meatballs – putting together the rest of the sausage pasta recipe is really easy!

  • Add the olive oil to a skillet pan and fry the sausages for around 15-20 minutes or until cooked through properly. Then remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Tip the garlic, tomatoes, roast peppers and fennel into the pan and gently fry for around 5 minutes until everything is becoming squashy. Tip the sausage pieces back in and warm through whilst you cook the pasta.
  • I use fresh pasta for this because it cooks in just 4 minutes in salted boiling water.
  • Drain the pasta – tip into the sausage and pepper sauce and stir everything together to coat all the pasta. Divide the sausage and pepper pasta between the serving bowls and eat immediately

How to roast peppers

Okay with our spicy sausage pasta recipe you can either use jarred roast peppers or you can roast your own, which is actually really easy

So to roast the peppers – heat up the oven to 200C and put 3 whole peppers into a roasting tin in the oven – roast until the skins are charring, this should take around 30 – 45 minutes.

Once cooked – leave them to cool and then slice them in half – scoop out the seeds and then scrape off the skin – chop into bitesize pieces.

Or if roasting peppers isn’t for you – just grab yourself a jar of chargrilled peppers from the shop and use them instead.
