Strawberry Crumble Ingredients

You’ll only need a handful of simple ingredients to make this delicious strawberry dessert recipe.

strawberry crumble ingredients - fresh strawberries, brown sugar, plain flour, butter all on a. white table

For the strawberry filling

  • 1kg strawberries
  • 2 tbs brown sugar – to tip onto the strawberries

For the crumble topping

  • 200g plain flour
  • 100g butter – at room temperature
  • 50g brown sugar

Equipment Needed To Make This Strawberry Dessert Recipe

  • Colander
  • Chopping board
  • Sharp knife
  • Tablespoon
  • Weighing scales
  • Mixing bowl
  • Oven proof dish

How To Make Strawberry Crumble

  • Preheat the oven to 180C / 3650F / Gas Mark 4
  • Wash and hull the strawberries – then slice into quarters.

Cooks Tip!

To hull strawberries just run the knife around the little leafy part at the top and remove them and the little centre bit underneath the leaves. That’s it.

And if like me you find that too much of a faff then just slice off the tops – job done!

  • Tip the strawberry quarters into the oven proof dish – and then scatter over the 2 tbs of brown sugar.

What To Serve With Strawberry Crumble

Well… because I usually make strawberry crumble in the summer I tend to serve it with delicious creamy vanilla ice-cream.

Sometimes I serve it with clotted cream or cold custard – we LOVE Jude’s Madagascan Vanilla Custard straight from the fridge it’s LUSH drizzled all over our strawberry dessert.

Make Our Strawberry Crumble Recipe Your Way!

  • Crunchy Topping – add a little crunch to the crumble topping – mix in some oats, ground almonds or almond slivers with your crumble mixture and scatter over before baking.
  • Add More Fruit – fancy some more fruit in with your strawberries? Then you could add apples, blackberries, rhubarb or blueberries – they all taste fabulous baked together in a sticky crumble filling.
  • Make Gluten Free Crumble – I make a little crumble alongside my big crumble for my gluten-free child. I just swap the plain flour for gluten free plain flour and it tastes just as good!
