A simply gorgeous self care routine that’s perfect for summer evenings. Self care is a BRILLIANT way to boost your mood and wellbeing.
I’m a firm believer in self care and dedicating time each day to look after me. Because if I feel good, my mood is more positive then I’m a much more positive happy person to be around and my day goes a whole lot more smoothly!
Creating a little summer evening self care routine not only makes sure I set aside time for myself, but it also helps me to relax and to get a better nights sleep. And a good night’s sleep is one of the easiest ways I can feel good!
How do I create a self care routine?
Well, firstly, everyone’s self care routine is a little different, everyone has different time constraints, different priorities and of course different likes and dislikes.
It’s important to work out what you like and what feels good for you. Self care is all about personal choice and choosing to do things that make you feel good.
My summer evening self care routine
Okay, this is the routine I tend to stick to most evenings. As a busy mum of three kids, I know how hard it can be to squeeze in time to look after yourself when there’s so many other things that need doing.
BUT… I’m super strict about giving myself importance in that list too and feel better for it! So my summer evening self care routine looks like this.
Quick Yoga Session
I start my evening self care routine with a quick yoga session. I do the 6-Minute Yoga Chill – Yoga with Adriene over on YouTube. It’s just six minutes of simple stretches that ease out any niggles of the day.
On summer evenings I often do this in the garden, if it’s nice weather then it feels really good to do this outside.
Evening Skin Care Routine
Next up, I head indoors to the bathroom and settle myself in front of the bathroom mirrors to carry out my summer evening skin care routine.
In summer I tend to keep make-up to a bare minimum and let my skin breathe, so my skin care routine is simple. I wash my face with a lavender face wash and then add a little moisturiser.
If I’ve been out in the sun I tend to use just a dab of after sun as moisturiser as it’s packed with aloe vera and makes my skin feel nourished and soft.
Once a week I spend a little longer on skin care and do a face mask – I’m just a little bit in love with the Garnier SkinActive charcoal tissue masks with Hyaluronic Acid. These leave my skin feeling lush! Tightens pores and leaves my skin hydrated, moisturised and super soft.
Turmeric Milk Drink

I like to make sure I have turmeric in my diet, it comes with a long list of health benefits and so simply adding a cup of warming turmeric and cinnamon milk to my evening, makes me feel good.
You can get my soothing turmeric milk drink recipe here. If you’re dairy free, then I recommend you try this with oat milk, it tastes oh so good!
Night Time Meditation
I don’t know about you but for me bed time is often the time when my mind starts racing, thinking of to do lists, things I forgot, things I want to get done, the list goes on.
I like to add in a night time meditation every night, just to help me really relax, switch off and get a good nights sleep. I use the meditations from The Mindful Movement over on YouTube.
I just choose the meditation video I feel most matches what I need that day – be it a simple deep sleep meditation or a healing meditation or stress relief. I just choose depending on how I feel.
Spending time meditating every evening makes me feel more positive and boosts my mood and that is a good thing!
