sausage pizza ingredients on a white table - include pizza base, tomato sauce, sausage meat, red onion, mozzarella cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, olive oil and oregano
  • Ready Rolled Pizza Dough - you can grab any pizza base you like, I like these fresh dough sheets, you just unroll, top and bake. But if you wanted to you could make your own homemade pizza dough base using a homemade pizza crust recipe.
  • Sausage Meat - okay, I usually grab a pack of sausages, flip the meat from the skins and break it up. So just choose your favourite sausages and go with it!
  • Red Onion - red onion goes great with sausage meat and is perfect on a nice cheesy pizza.
  • Passata - I use plain passata because the toppings are really flavorful, you can swap this for pizza sauce, or your favourite tomato sauce if you prefer.
  • Cheese - this is a cheesy pizza, so we use a combination of diced fresh mozzarella cheese and shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, they melt into the sausage meat deliciously!
  • Extras - you'll need a splash of olive oil to fry the sausage meat and some salt, pepper and Italian seasoning or dried oregano to sprinkle over for extra flavour.
  • Frying pan or large skillet pan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Baking sheet
  • Chopping board
  • Vegetable knife
  • Cheese grater
  • Tablespoon

freshly baked sausage and cheese pizza

You can go with regular pizza sides like coleslaw, potato salad or garden salad. You could slide on some French fries, I tend to grab a bag of frozen fries, season them with Italian seasoning and bang them in the air fryer whilst the pizza is cooking. Add a garlic mayo dip on the side and DONE!

Switch Up The Sausage Meat - you can buy regular pork sausages, flavoured sausages, Italian sausages or even use chicken sausage.

Add Some Extra Vegetables - you can add in some extra veggies here, just sautรฉ them with the onions and sausage meat - try mushrooms, bell pepper, fennel or even toss over some sweetcorn before baking.

Fancy Some Spicy Heat? - if you like your pizza with a kick of heat, throw over some jalapeรฑo or freshly chopped chillies. Or just add a sprinkling of red pepper flakes to the sausage meat.

โญ๏ธ Be sure to cook the sausage meat thoroughly, and remove from the pan using a slotted spoon so as to reduce the greasiness before loading onto the pizza base.
